Transport for London has announced that by 2015, part of the London Underground network will run for 24 hours at weekends. This means an easier and more pleasant journey home than taking the limited nightbus routes to the outer suburbs and major financial savings if you enjoy the Central London night life but have to pay for taxis to get home.

Whilst there is some debate, particularly in the metro regarding the benefits of the move, many will see it as long overdue. Whilst London boasts a 24/7 business and entertainment sector, its transport system has traditionally struggled to match the needs of inhabitants.

Those who choose not to stay out at work or enjoying the plethora of leisure options often spend their time online, meaning that online advertising is of huge important to businesses. Whether looking to attract people to their store or venue, or sell to them, Londoners spend a huge amount of time shopping and browsing the internet and one of the best ways for companies to reach them is through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques – getting their website as high up the search engine ranks as possible.

Key Word Difficulty and Best Keyword Difficulty Tool.

Google is the global leader in search engine market share, with a staggering 90% of searches being conducted on their search engine.  How high a website ranks depends on how it is judged in terms of relevance and authority on the search people type into their browser.

A webpage’s authority is its PageRank and the authority of a website best indicated by its HomePage PageRank. There is also a boost in PageRank to a minimum of 4.5 for HomePages competing for a specific keyword.

This can be shown by Total WebPage Authority = PR + HPR + BPR*

Whilst there are many programs that can be used to help achieve the best possible position for websites on Google, we believe Keyword SEO Pro is the best keyword difficulty tool because it uniquely calculates the Keyword Difficulty, determining the average Total WebPage Authority of webpages at the top page of Google for each of a list of keywords.

When we look at this in more detail, two of the keywords are in the Total Page Reputation – Keyword Difficulty Red Zone: Solicitors and magician. These sites have an average HomePage PageRanks of more than five. Rarely do SME websites achieve HomePage PageRank of more than four and PageRank is on a logarithmic scale so these keywords are probably out of reach for most SME Websites.

Total Page Reputation Keyword Difficulty – Blue Zone Keywords

Mens designer glasses is a Blue Zone TPR-KD at 7.5 – at the high end of the Blue Zone and it would require considerable link power acquisition for a website to achieve top page positioning on Google. Solicitors in London is a similar in terms of keyword difficulty with a TPR-KD of 7.6. Solicitors in Plymouth is also a Blue Zone keyword with a TPR-KD of 7.1 so slightly easier to achieve a high ranking on.  The smaller geographic coverage may be responsible for the reduced keyword difficulty.

Total Page Reputation Keyword Difficulty – Green Zone Keywords

Whereas planning for loft conversions is a Blue Zone Keyword, kitchen cupboards is in the Green Zone; requiring considerably less link power for top page positioning. Similarly, if you look at Family Lawyers North London, it is perhaps surprisingly a low keyword difficulty with a keyword score of 6.5 which contrasts with commercial cleaners with a score of 7.0. Whilst magician would be difficult to rank for (TPR-KD 10.0), magician kent has a low keyword difficulty – TPR-KD 3.9. So limiting the geographical search would help a local magician to rank higher for localised searches. Plymouth wills is also a good option at 5.1 as is cosmetic dentist Finchley at 5.7. Commercial cleaners often rely on their websites to attract new customers, but at 7.0, it would be easier to narrow geographic coverage and compete with commercial cleaners London (6.5 compared to 7.0).
